Beneath a warm orange glow spilling across the South Portico, President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump welcomed a procession of costumed children to the White House on Oct. 30. evening, bringing one of Washington’s most cherished seasonal traditions. With candy baskets in hand and laughter echoing down the driveway, the Trumps presided over a scene that mixed small-town festivity with the stately air of the nation’s most recognisable home.
The air carried the faint scent of autumn and chocolate. As twilight settled over Washington, the White House transformed into a tableau of fall colours — carved pumpkins glowing in neat rows, garlands of leaves cascading down the portico, and the words “Halloween 2025” spelt out in sweeping letters above the doorway.
