Zarna Garg wants Netflix to give Johny Lever a comedy special

Garg is in India for the live taping of her YouTube show, 'The Zarna Garg Family Podcast'.

Indian-American stand-up comedian, Zarna Garg, recently met Indian comedy legend Johny Lever and posted photos of the meet-up on Instagram.

Zarna Garg is an Indian-American stand-up comedian, screenwriter, and New York Times bestselling author known for her relatable humor about immigrant parenting and Indian culture. Her comedy special 'One in a Billion' on Prime Video and her memoir "This American Woman" have earned her quite a bit of fan-following.

Garg heaped praises on Lever's career in comedy and described the opportunity as "FIRE". She wrote, "There is no Indian that does not break into a smile when @iam_johnylever (Johny Lever) is mentioned- for 5 decades, from audio cassettes (remember those?) to OTT’s Johnny Lever has entertained a nation and a people."

She added, "Today, we saw the artist behind the art- and it was FIRE"

In an Instagram post, titled, 'Legend at work and women who got to hang with him', Garg also appealed to Netflix to give a comedy special to Johny Lever, she said, "@netflix_in (Netflix India) give him a comedy special now!!! His work needs to be recorded for eternity!"

Stand-up comedian Aditi Mittal and Lever's daughter and comic Jamie Lever also featured in the photos.

Touching a deeper note, Garg also shared Lever's advice to her about art, "don’t get distracted from your art. Because your art is your anchor”.

Garg also gushed over Lever for not writing down scripts for his performances and described it as giving "a whole new meaning to ‘from the brilliant mind of’."

Garg is in India for an episode of The Zarna Garg Family Podcast, a podcast that she records with her family and is available on YouTube. The live taping of the show took place in the sold-out Bal Gandharva Rang Mandir auditorium on July 25.

She also taped the season finale of the show MaaaNoranjan with Gauahar Khan, a talk show hosted by actress and model Gauahar Khan, known for winning Bigg Boss 7 and roles in films like Rocket Singh.
