Sharma began his legal journey at Robson Hall, where he focused on corporate and commercial law. An active participant in moot competitions, he represented Team Manitoba in several prestigious national events, including the Harold Fox IP Moot and the Davies Corporate/Securities Law Moot.
After articling and working at TDS LLP, Sharma returned to Robson Hall to pursue an LLM, focusing on immigration law. During his LLM, he continued his involvement in mooting and competed in the Three Minute Thesis competition, showcasing his research acumen.
In 2023, Sharma transitioned into litigation upon joining the Manitoba Securities Commission. He also continues to teach and co-develop courses at Robson Hall, demonstrating his dedication to legal education.
Beyond his professional duties, Sharma volunteers extensively—mentoring students, speaking at law school events, and judging high school debates. He has also served as a director of the India Association of Manitoba and coached youth basketball teams.
Reflecting on the award, Sharma said, “As my alma mater, this award means that much more. My advice to current Robson Hall students today would be to show initiative for every opportunity presented to you during your time in law school.”
“The opportunities and resources Robson Hall provides are instrumental to your success, not only as a law student, but as a future legal professional. Ensure you seek out and capitalize on these opportunities and you will set yourself up for a rewarding legal career,” he added.
