South Asians for America (SAFA) is organizing a fireside chat and townhall, on Aug. 28, with the top Indian origin political leaders, Ghazala Hashmi, Democratic National Committee (DNC) Vice-chair Shasti Conrad and key AANHPI (Asian American and Native Hawaiians/Pacific Islander) members.

SAFA is a national, grassroots level organization dedicated to the education, advocacy, engagement, and mobilization of the South Asian community in the United States at the local, state, and federal levels, to increase the civic engagement, political participation, and network of South Asians nationwide.

The event would feature Democratic Nominee to the Virginia Lieutenant Governor's office, Ghazala Hashmi, talking to DNC vice chair Shasti Conrad, along with Democratic Asian Americans of Virginia's Chair Shyamali Roy Hauth, Fairfax Young Democrats Co-President Sabrina Mattin and Virginia High School Democrats Chair Jack George.

Held under the 'Roadmap to 2025 in Virginia' banners, the Democrat town-hall will start at 6 PM. The leaders hope to generate support for the State's upcoming House of Delegates election and gubernatorial elections.

SAFA was launched in 2021, as an offshoot of South Asians for Biden, a mobilization group for former President Biden's presidential campaign.
