The deaths of three Americans on Florida’s Turnpike have ignited a political firestorm after investigators revealed that the driver responsible—an Indian national who entered the U.S. illegally—was issued a commercial license by California’s Department of Motor Vehicles under Governor Gavin Newsom’s administration.
Authorities confirmed that 28-year-old Harjinder Singh, an Indian national who entered the United States illegally in 2018, caused the Aug.12 collision in St. Lucie County that killed three Americans. Singh, behind the wheel of an 18-wheeler, attempted an illegal U-turn through an “official use only” access point, blocking all lanes of traffic. A minivan slammed into his jackknifed truck, killing its three occupants instantly.
