IndiGo announced its entry into long-haul operations with the launch of nonstop flights between Mumbai and Manchester, starting July 1.
The move positions IndiGo as the only carrier offering direct connectivity between India’s financial capital and Northern England.
Operating thrice weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, the service will utilize Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft leased from Norse Atlantic Airways. Flight 6E 0031 will depart Mumbai at 04:15 and arrive in Manchester at 09:15, while the return flight 6E 0032 will depart Manchester at 12:00 and land in Mumbai at 01:35 the following day.

Passengers in the IndiGoStretch section will receive added benefits including increased baggage allowance, priority check-in, and complimentary alcoholic beverages. All passengers will be served complimentary hot vegetarian meals, with the option to pre-book non-vegetarian dishes. Non-alcoholic beverages will be complimentary, while alcoholic drinks will be available for purchase in economy.
The decision to launch from Mumbai rather than Delhi is influenced by Pakistani airspace restrictions, which would require longer routes from the capital. Mumbai allows for more direct and efficient routing to Europe.
“This marks a pivotal moment in our global expansion journey,” said Pieter Elbers, chief executive officer of IndiGo. “We are proud to launch our first long-haul service, connecting Mumbai with Manchester, and enhancing economic, cultural, and educational ties between India and the UK.”
Chris Woodroofe, managing director of Manchester Airport, welcomed the launch, stating, “This route makes us the only Northern airport with a direct connection to India. It opens up stronger trade and investment opportunities with the world’s fastest-growing economy.”
Bookings are now open through IndiGo’s website, mobile app, and authorized travel agents. One-way fares start at approximately $294 USD
