After the Test and associate Test playing nations, instant cricket – T20 – has been gaining global popularity. After resounding success in North America, it is spreading its tentacles to new European destinations. In the process cricket players of Indian descent who immigrated to various parts of Europe are now getting chances to display their instant cricket skills in global events.
Besides England, Ireland and Scotland, cricket is now making its presence felt in some of the European nations where till now it was considered an alien game.
Wherever the game of cricket is growing, the main beneficiaries are the people of South Asian origin for whom cricket is not a sport but a religion. They play, follow and patronise the sport wherever it goes.
For example, the European T20 Premier League (ETPL), an ICC-approved T20
league co-owned by Abhishek Bachchan and backed by Cricket Ireland, Cricket Scotland, and the Royal Dutch Cricket Association, has now appointed Oakvale Capital as its exclusive investment banker.
Roping in Oakvale Capital into cricket’s fold is considered a first major step in opening the game to the European corporate and investment world.
The European T20 Premier League (ETPL) is a premium T20 cricket league developed in partnership with Cricket Ireland, Cricket Scotland, and the Royal Dutch Cricket Association. Co-owned by Abhishek Bachchan, ETPL is designed to blend sport, culture, and innovation—offering a fresh, world-class cricketing experience for fans and investors alike.
