In collaboration with WHEELS Global Foundation (giving back platform of global Pan IIT community), the National Digital Library of India (NDLI) last week hosted an insightful webinar titled “Next-Gen Power: Holistic Wellness,” spotlighting sustainable wellness practices.
The event attracted students, educators, and professionals from across the globe, offering a much-needed exploration of how individuals can build resilience and achieve balance in today’s fast-paced, high-pressure world.
The keynote address was delivered by Viji Narayanan, Director of Wellness Programs at WHEELS Global Foundation and a global tech leader, while Ms. Sujata Roy, President of WHEELS India, moderated the session. Viji shared evidence that 33% of the world’s population is experiencing anxiety or depression, illustrating the magnitude of the mental health crisis and the need for proactive, preventive wellness strategies.
Participants explored how aligning mind, body, and spirit creates a foundation for lasting well-being, with five core pillars emerging as essential: balance, resilience, prevention, connection, and acceptance. As a certified yoga teacher, Viji emphasized how ancient wisdom can be integrated with modern lifestyles to foster physical vitality, mental clarity, and emotional resilience.
Another highlight of the session was the introduction of the Zen Lounge initiative at IIT Kharagpur - a wellness space located at the SN/IG Girls Hostel and supported by Viji. This serene environment promotes yoga, meditation, and mental wellness among students. ZenWellnessLounge.com , a virtual platform offering resources, tools, and mentorship for holistic well-being.
The session concluded with a powerful call to action: holistic wellness is not just a personal goal—it is a collective responsibility and a cornerstone for nurturing the next generation of resilient, mindful changemakers.
WHEELS , by deploying such programs, aims to achieve the shared objectives of Technology Driven Transformation of India’s 20% of “Rurban” population that is 180m+ people, by 2030 in support of India’s vision of becoming a developed economy by 2047.
