“Chatterjee is a highly distinguished scholar and teacher, and his leadership has been instrumental in expanding the impact of the Terry College through its highly competitive graduate programs,” senior vice president for academic affairs and provost S. Jack Hu said.

“I am thrilled that he has agreed to guide the Terry College during this transition. Thanks to the commitment of its faculty, staff, students and alumni, Terry has built a well-deserved reputation as one of the nation’s best colleges of business, and I’m confident Chatterjee will provide the leadership to continue its impressive trajectory,” Hu added.

Chatterjee succeeds Benjamin C. Ayers, who has served as dean since 2014 and was recently appointed UGA’s senior vice president for academic affairs and provost. Ayers praised Chatterjee’s “administrative experience and deep familiarity with the Terry College,” expressing confidence in the college’s continued success.

Under Chatterjee’s leadership, Terry’s full-time MBA program has received international acclaim. It was ranked No. 1 globally for value for money by the Financial Times in both 2024 and 2025, and placed No. 11 among public business schools in the 2025 U.S. News & World Report rankings.

Since becoming associate dean in 2021, Chatterjee has led efforts to expand interdisciplinary graduate offerings, introducing dual-degree programs with the Colleges of Engineering, Law, and Pharmacy. He also launched the Pathway MBA for STEM undergraduates and the 2+2 Early Admissions Program.

Chatterjee, who joined UGA in 2001, holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Washington, a master’s from Delhi University, and a bachelor’s from the University of Calcutta.
