UC Health names Ben Patel chief technology officer

He will oversee digital infrastructure, cybersecurity, clinical systems, and innovation to enhance patient care and operational efficiency.

UC Health, the adult academic healthcare system serving Greater Cincinnati, has appointed Indian-American tech executive Ben Patel as its new vice president and chief technology officer (CTO). 

With over 28 years of experience in information technology, including more than two decades in healthcare IT, Patel brings a strong track record of digital innovation and operational leadership to the organization.

In his new role, Patel will lead UC Health’s Digital Health Systems (DHS) team, overseeing infrastructure, cybersecurity, clinical systems, and digital applications, a statement said. 

Prior to joining UC Health, Patel held senior IT leadership positions at Cone Health, Sinai Health System, and APM Health. His work has been widely recognized, including honors such as the InfoWorld Top 100 IT Award and being named among Becker’s “100 Hospital and Health System CIOs to Know” from 2019 to 2023. He also serves on the advisory board of Stellar Health.

Patel holds an MS from DePaul University, an MBA from Pittsburg State University, and a certificate in artificial intelligence in healthcare from MIT Sloan School of Management.
