New York City Council Member Shekar Krishnan on July 2 announced the launch of the city’s first-ever Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) history curriculum in public schools.
The initiative, supported by a $2.5 million allocation in the city’s FY2026 budget, was unveiled on the steps of City Hall in Manhattan alongside fellow Council Members Linda Lee, Sandra Ung, Julie Won, and Carlina Rivera.
