Georgia State Alumni Association names Suman Gera as treasurer

She will serve a two-year term, guiding alumni engagement initiatives.

The Georgia State University alumni association has appointed Indian-American real estate professional Suman Gera as treasurer.

Gera, who graduated from the university with a BBA in 1982, has built a career in commercial real estate investment management. She has served on more than 10 global joint venture and fund advisory boards, as well as the GSU honorary real estate advisory board.

Her professional experience spans leadership positions at Bridge, Aegon Asset Management, where she oversaw the redevelopment and sale of San Francisco’s Transamerica Pyramid complex, the Atlanta Housing Authority, and TIAA-CREF, where she managed operations for assets exceeding $38 billion. 

Gera has also worked with IBM, the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, and the Massachusetts Pension Reserves Investment Management Board, along with several international pension funds.

A Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) and Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Gera is active in professional organizations including Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) and the Urban Land Institute. She was named a “Woman of Influence” by Real Estate Forum Magazine in 2016.

Originally from India, Gera holds a bachelors of commerce degree from Delhi University. The alumni association’s board members serve two-year terms, guiding programs that foster lifelong engagement with Georgia State University.
