Two Indian nationals who allegedly crossed the US-Canada border illegally near Bridgewater, Maine, on Aug. 1 were arrested, according to a statement released by the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

The individuals, whose identities were not disclosed, are being prosecuted under 8 U.S. Code § 1325 for unlawful entry and will also face deportation proceedings. These arrests are notable as the Houlton Sector, which covers Maine, has encountered only 15 Indian nationals in the past three fiscal years.
