મહારાષ્ટ્ર નવનિર્માણ સેના (MNS)ના પ્રમુખ રાજ ઠાકરે દ્વારા સરદાર વલ્લભભાઈ પટેલ અને મોરારજી દેસાઈ વિરુદ્ધ કરવામાં આવેલાં વિવાદાસ્પદ નિવેદને ગુજરાતમાં રોષ જગાવ્યો છે. સરદાર પટેલના અપમાનને લઈ પાટીદાર સમાજના યુવા નેતા અલ્પેશ કથીરિયાએ જણાવ્યું હતું કે આ મરાઠી માનસ ઊભું કરી ગુજરાતીઓને ટાર્ગેટ કરી ગુજરાતના મહાનુભાવોનું અપમાન કરવાનો પ્રયાસ છે, એ ક્યારેય સહન ન થાય. આ મામલે રાજ ઠાકરેએ માફી માગવી જોઈએ. આ સાથે તેમણે આ નિવેદનોને મહારાષ્ટ્ર અને ગુજરાતના લોકોને લડાવવાના પ્રયાસ તરીકે ગણાવ્યાં છે અને રાજ ઠાકરેની પાર્ટીનું કોઈ અસ્તિત્વ ન હોવાથી એને ફરીથી ઊભી કરવા માટેનો નિષ્ફળ પ્રયાસ ગણાવ્યો છે.
