Yogi Patel on Pratham USA’s role as a catalyst to reform education system

The former president of the nonprofit hopes to see more involvement from the government in solving India’s literacy issue

A study conducted by Pratham USA, one of the largest and most successful non-governmental education organizations in India, revealed that nearly 50 percent of class five students cannot read a class two level text.

Yogi Patel, past president of Pratham USA, maintained that while it is ultimately the role of governments to ensure children are being educated, non-profits like theirs can solve the issue by playing the role of “catalysts.”
