Top American lawmakers on June 12 mourned the death of over 240 people in the deadliest plane crash in Ahmedabad as they sought a full investigation into one of the worst accidents in civil aviation history.
“Our prayers are with the victims of the Air India Flight 171 accident and their loved ones, as well as with the first responders who continue their search for survivors,” said a joint statement issued by Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Sam Graves, Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Ranking Member Rick Larsen, Aviation Subcommittee Chairman Troy E. Nehls, and Aviation Subcommittee Ranking Member Steve Cohen.
The lawmakers said they are in touch with the NTSB, FAA, and Boeing and are monitoring the circumstances of this tragic accident.
“While we all want to know what caused this terrible accident, it is important to let investigators do their work, and we discourage speculation about potential causes until we have more concrete information,” said the joint statement.
