A new bill introduced in the US House of Representatives proposes the creation of a joint US-India consultative mechanism to deepen civil nuclear cooperation and assess India’s domestic nuclear liability framework in line with international norms.

Introduced by Republican Congressman Byron Donalds on May 29, the International Nuclear Energy Act of 2025 (H.R. 3626) aims to establish a whole-of-government strategy for nuclear exports and international civil nuclear cooperation. The bill is currently under review by the House Committees on Foreign Affairs, Energy and Commerce, Science, Space and Technology, and Ways and Means.
