Thalaiva Fever: ‘Coolie’ races ahead of ‘War 2’ in North American premiere sales

Rajinikanth’s film records $2.09 million in pre-sales, far ahead of Hrithik Roshan-Jr NTR’s ‘War 2’.

Two days before their simultaneous Aug.14 release, Rajinikanth’s ‘Coolie’ opened up a commanding lead over Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR’s ‘War 2’ in North American premiere pre-sales.

Trade tracker Venky Box Office reported that ‘Coolie’, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, has earned $2.09 million in premiere advance bookings in the region. Of this, $1.82 million comes from the US market alone, breaking Rajinikanth’s own record set by ‘Kabali’ in 2016, which had $1.93 million in pre-sales.
