An Indian-origin student is battling for his life after being shot at a 7-Eleven store in Irving, Texas, on August 26.
Deekshith Reddy, a recent IT graduate from India, has reportedly sustained multiple fractures to his collarbone and ribs, along with a punctured lung as a result of the incident. He is currently receiving intensive care and is reported to be in critical condition.

Without health insurance, Deekshith’s family is facing overwhelming medical and rehabilitation costs. To alleviate their struggles, his friends launched a
GoFundMe campaign, which has drawn wide support.
At the time of writing, the fundraiser has collected more than $35,000 from over 1,100 donors, nearing its $45,000 target. “All donations will go directly toward hospital and medical expenses, ongoing recovery and rehabilitation care, and basic living expenses,” the organizers stated.
The case comes amid continuing concerns over gun violence in the United States. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported 46,728 gun-related deaths in 2023, with homicides accounting for nearly 38 percent.
