Indian-origin Sanam Arora was recently appointed to the Board of Governors of the London Metropolitan University.
Sanam Arora is the Founder and Chair of the National Indian Students and Alumni Union UK (NISAU). Apart from being the founding-chair of the students and alumni network, Arora is also an award-winning advocate for international students and works as a senior consultant in the investment management sector, advising top firms on strategy and transformation.

Along with Arora, Gerry McDonald, the Group Principal and CEO of New City College, was also appointed to the Board of Governors.
Tijs Broeke, Chair of LMU’s Board of Governors, advocated support for Arora and McDonald and said, "Gerry and Sanam bring a wealth of experience that aligns perfectly with London Met’s mission. Gerry’s understanding of the further education landscape and Sanam’s leadership and advocacy for international students complement our ambition to be a truly global and welcoming university.
He added, “I look forward to working with them both to advance our strategic priorities and strengthen our support for students."
Arora shared her excitement about the new appointment and said that she was “delighted to join the Board of Governors at London Metropolitan University — an institution that exemplifies what higher education should stand for: equity, ambition, and transformation”.
She added, “London Met’s values resonate deeply with me; and I’m excited to contribute to its next chapter.”
