Indian American rapper and cultural figure Raja Kumari partnered with Indian fashion house KALKI to launch an inclusive luxury capsule collection.

Titled KALKI x Raja Kumari, the 20-look collection was released on July 11 through KALKI’s flagship stores and online platform. Co-created by the Grammy-nominated artist, the line draws from traditional Indian craftsmanship and integrates contemporary silhouettes, reflecting Kumari’s global South Asian identity.

The designs feature structured drapes, corseted lehengas, fusion saris, and gowns, and are styled in jewel tones such as oxblood, berry, and wine, alongside metallic accents.

In conjunction with the launch, Kumari released a reimagined version of her original track LA INDIA, which appears in the official campaign video. The lyrics, “No matter where I’m from, they’ll always know I’m Made in India,” align with the collection’s thematic focus on heritage, identity, and global representation. The accompanying visuals feature Kumari wearing pieces from the collection, further integrating the musical and fashion components of the collaboration.

On social media, Kumari described the process as “20 looks. 1 story. All me,” underscoring the personal narrative embedded in the designs. In another post, she wrote, “You don’t just get outfits — you get an anthem in fabric,” highlighting the collection’s multidisciplinary vision.

The collection foregrounds inclusivity, with every piece designed to accommodate a range of body types. Each look is priced uniformly between $480–850, with no variation based on size—a conscious decision by the brand to reinforce the collection’s message of accessibility.

Raja Kumari, born Svetha Yallapragada Rao in California to Telugu-speaking Indian parents, is a classically trained dancer in Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, and Kathak. She began her artistic career in Los Angeles, later gaining recognition for her songwriting contributions to artists such as Gwen Stefani, Fall Out Boy, and Iggy Azalea. She was awarded the BMI Pop Award in 2016 and continues to be an advocate for South Asian representation in global popular culture.
