Musaafer brings Indian cuisine to New York City

The NYC restaurant was developed in collaboration with Delhi-based Chromed Studio.

Musaafer, Houston’s Michelin-starred Indian fine dining restaurant, has expanded to New York City, opening its second location in the historic Hope Building in TriBeCa. 

The new outpost, spanning 10,000 square feet across two levels, brings Musaafer’s signature blend of opulence, artistry, and elevated Indian cuisine to one of the world’s most competitive culinary capitals.

The restaurant, which earned a Michelin star in Texas’s inaugural guide, continues its commitment to immersive design and culinary innovation. Developed in collaboration with Delhi-based Chromed Studio, the New York space draws inspiration from Indian landmarks such as the Hawa Mahal and Taj Mahal. 

Its interiors feature towering marble walls, patterned glasswork, antique pieces, and lotus-shaped chandeliers, creating an atmosphere that blends traditional craftsmanship with modern aesthetics. A highlight of the venue is the Sheesh Mahal, or Palace of Mirrors, a semi-private dining area adorned with thousands of hand-cut mirrored pieces arranged in intricate patterns.

The menu offers signature dishes popular in Houston, including lychee ceviche, coriander shrimp, beef vindaloo, and Musaafer’s butter chicken experience. New York exclusives include the Nihari Birria Taco with pulled lamb shank and bone marrow consommé, Chaanp lamb chops with beetroot dust, and Khasi Black Sesame Cod with ginger congee and golden garlic. The cocktail program complements the cuisine with inventive combinations that incorporate global influences and Indian botanicals.

Musaafer’s expansion reflects the growing recognition of Indian fine dining on the international stage. With its New York launch, Musaafer reinforces its ambition to position modern Indian gastronomy alongside the city’s most acclaimed dining destinations.
