'Indianness' on the rise among second-gen Indian Americans: Survey

The survey reveals a marked rise in the number of U.S.-born Indian Americans who consider their Indian identity a central part of who they are.

Second-generation Indian Americans are increasingly identifying with their Indian heritage, a survey has found.

The 2024 Indian American Attitudes Survey by the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace revealed that 86 percent of U.S.-born Indian Americans now consider being Indian either “very important” (45 percent) or “somewhat important” (41 percent) to their identity.
