Illinois Governor declares June 25, 2025 as Indian-American Veterans appreciation day

The announcement, made at the Capitol in Springfield, recognizes the service and sacrifices of Indian-American veterans and acknowledges their role in strengthening the American military and society at large.

In an official proclamation signed on May 20, 2025, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker declared Jun. 25, 2025, as Indian-American Veterans Appreciation Day across the state. The proclamation honors the contributions of Indian-American members of the U.S. Armed Forces and the work of the Indo-American Veterans Organization (IAVO.us).

The announcement, made at the Capitol in Springfield, recognizes the service and sacrifices of Indian-American veterans and acknowledges their role in strengthening the American military and society at large.

“Indian-Americans have made tremendous contributions to the advancement of American society; and Illinois proudly acknowledges and recognizes the contributions of our Indian-American members in our great Armed Forces,” the proclamation reads.

Governor Pritzker noted the efforts of the Indo-American Veterans Organization, a non-profit founded on Nov.11, 2021—Veterans Day—dedicated to honoring Indian-American veterans.

“The IAVO.us mission statement is dedicated to honoring Indian-American veterans who have proudly served and sacrificed in the United States Armed Forces,” the proclamation stated.

In support of the organization's work, Governor Pritzker called on Illinois residents to observe the day and recognize the vital contributions of Indian-Americans not only in industry and commerce but also “in the most treasured and honorable arena of the United States Armed Forces.”

The official declaration was signed by Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias and bears the Great Seal of the State of Illinois.

Following the announcement, the Commissioner of the Veterans Memorial and founder, chairman & president of IAVO.us, a U.S. Air Force and U.S. Army veteran — shared a message with the community: “Please join me in celebrating and recognizing June 25th, 2025 as the Indian-American Veterans Appreciation Day!!!”
