GOPIO to host webinar on immigration, first of the virtual series

The Global Organization of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO) will organize the first webinar of the series of virtual events to inform, equip and energize the Indian diaspora, on July 12.

Scheduled for 9 am ET /6 am PT (2pm UK, 3-5 pm across Europe, Africa & Middle East, 6:30 pm in India and 11 pm in Australia and July 13 at 1 am in New Zealand), the event will feature a panel discussion on 'Indian Diaspora and Immigration Upheavals - Path Forward'.

The panel of legal experts "will discuss the immigration issues to the USA, Canada and UK, especially the change in immigration rules and enforcement in these countries," said GOPIO in a statement.

Lord Bhikhu Parekh, a member of the British House of Lords, author and former professor of Political Theory at the University of Hull, would be the chief guest of the webinar.

Moderated by Maya Chadda, Professor-Emeritus at William Paterson University, the event will feature five panelists.

The panel includes David Nachman, the managing attorney of the New Jersey Offices of the NPZ law group; Stephanie Dy, an attorney with the Parikh Law Group in Chicago; Dr. Sudhir Mohanlal Shah, Advocate with the Mumbai based law firm M/s. Sudhir Shah & Associates; Shaima Ammal, Solicitor Advocate (England & Wales) and Advocate (Kerala High Court) and Barrister & Solicitor Gagan Mundra, managing partner of Canadian law firm, Visaserve Immigration Law. All the invited panelists have expertise in immigration laws.

The virtual event will also feature a Question-Answer session where the experts would take up questions posed by the audience members.
