Boeing pledges full support in Air India crash investigation

Boeing president and CEO Kelly Ortberg on June 12 offered full support in investigating the horrific crash of a London-bound Air India plane soon after its takeoff from Ahmedabad.

“Our deepest condolences go out to the loved ones of the passengers and crew on board Air India Flight 171, as well as everyone affected in Ahmedabad,” Ortberg said in a statement issued by Boeing.

“I have spoken with Air India Chairman N. Chandrasekaran to offer our full support, and a Boeing team stands ready to support the investigation led by India’s Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau,” he said.

Air India Flight 171, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, was flying from Ahmedabad Airport in Ahmedabad, to London Gatwick Airport in the United Kingdom with 230 passengers and 12 crew members on board.

This is considered to be the deadliest aviation accident since the downing of Malaysian Airlines Flight 17 in 2017, which resulted in the death of 298 people.
