Trump Slams Media Coverage Ahead of Putin Meeting, Calls Critics ‘Fired Losers’

Trump mocked what he described as the media’s tendency to undermine any diplomatic achievement.

US President Donald Trump lashed out at the media on Aug.12, accusing journalists and political opponents of distorting the narrative surrounding his upcoming meeting with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.

In a sharply worded statement, Trump singled out former National Security Advisor John Bolton — whom he referred to as a “fired loser” — for comments suggesting that “even though the meeting is on American soil, ‘Putin has already won.’” Trump had fired Bolton in his first term as his national security advisor.
