Phosphorus, a Tennessee-based provider of proactive security and management solutions for the extended Internet of Things (xIoT), has elevated Indian-American cybersecurity expert Sonu Shankar to the role of chief operating officer (COO) and president.
Shankar, who previously served as chief product officer, will lead the company’s global expansion and accelerate its mission to deliver autonomous xIoT security operations, the company said in a statement. As chief product officer, he previously spearheaded advancements in automated risk assessment, compliance enforcement, and lifecycle management, innovations that have positioned Phosphorus as a pioneer in autonomous device operations.

Chris Rouland, founder and CEO of Phosphorus, praised Shankar’s dual expertise in business strategy and engineering depth. “His leadership has been essential in positioning Phosphorus as the only provider with patented technology capable of delivering end-to-end xIoT discovery, remediation, and management. He's been key in driving the company toward device management autonomy in a world of 60 billion connected devices — and growing — that have never had human owners,” Rouland said.
Board chairman Art Coviello highlighted Shankar’s leadership, calling him the right executive to guide the company through its next phase.
