The panel will feature U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) alongside leading immigration attorneys and community organizers. Speakers include Sheela Murthy, founder of the Murthy Law Firm; Sowmya Rao, immigration attorney; Robin Gurung, co-executive director of Asian Refugees United; and Chintan Patel, executive director of the Indian American Impact.

The event will address urgent concerns within the South Asian diaspora amid an intensifying immigration debate in the United States. Attendees will have an opportunity to learn about their rights, ask legal questions, and hear directly from policy influencers and impacted individuals.

The series comes amid evolving challenges in the immigration landscape. For South Asians, recent shifts in immigration policy carry wide-reaching implications—including long-standing employment-based green card delays, visa uncertainty for H-1B holders and international students, and fear of deportation among undocumented youth.

Indian American Impact has consistently advocated for reforms tailored to the needs of South Asian immigrants, especially high-skilled workers, undocumented individuals, and asylum seekers from countries like Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan.
