Amid a thaw in relations with the White House, New Delhi has hired Bryan Lanza, a former adviser to President Donald Trump, to represent India’s interests in Washington, according to a newly filed disclosure.
Lanza began working for the Indian Government on August 15, providing "public relations, communications, and government relations advice and services, including outreach to US media and government officials," the filing shows. Mercury Public Affairs, his firm, will be paid USD 75,000 per month, with the contract effective until November 14, 2025.
This marks the second lobbyist India has retained in less than six months, following the hiring of Jason Miller of SHW Partners LLC. Miller’s contract, which runs from April 24, 2025, to April 23, 2026, carries a monthly fee of USD 150,000, with the latest filing showing SHW Partners LLC remains an active lobbyist for India.
Bryan Lanza previously served as Communications Director for President Donald J. Trump’s Transition Team, working closely with advisers and White House leadership to manage media inquiries and ensure a smooth Cabinet appointment process. His prior role was Deputy Communications Director for the Trump-Pence Presidential campaign, overseeing media relations and messaging strategy.
Jason Miller, also a former Trump advisor, was the chief spokesman for the 2016 presidential campaign and transition and served as a senior adviser for the Trump 2020 re-election campaign.
Analysts note that the hiring of former Trump aides signals India’s strategic focus on maintaining strong channels of influence in Washington, particularly in the lead-up to critical policy and diplomatic engagements.
