A sea of vibrant colors, rhythmic beats, and joyous crowds took over Madison Avenue in Manhattan on Aug. 17 during the 43rd India Day Parade. Organized by the Federation of Indian Associations (FIA), the event drew thousands to celebrate Indian heritage under this year's theme, Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah, meaning “universal peace, healing, and harmony for all.”

The parade route stretched from East 38th Street to East 27th Street, featuring more than 50 marching groups and over 40 colorful floats, each showcasing unique aspects of Indian culture. From traditional dance to modern Bollywood performances, celebrations highlighted Indian culture through live music, traditional clothing, and performances by artists of Indian origin. Notable Grand Marshals for the event were popular Indian movie stars Rashmika Mandanna and Vijay Deverakonda. The duo waved to thousands of cheering fans along Madison Avenue, wearing coordinated traditional Indian outfits. Their appearance sparked excitement among parade attendees who lined the route for a chance to see the stars up close.

Beyond the parade route, the Independence Day celebration continued on East 26th Street with a food fest and cultural programs. Shoppers browsed stalls filled with traditional clothing, jewelry, and handcrafted souvenirs, alongside food courts offering authentic Indian street food.

Now celebrating its 43rd year, the India Day Parade in NYC remains one of the largest celebrations of Indian independence outside of India, showcasing the spirit and contributions of the Indian-American community.
