IIT Guwahati, University of Southern Denmark partner to advance global innovation

As part of the collaboration, a Center of Excellence for Indo-Danish innovation and translational research will be established at IIT Guwahati.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on June 16 with the University of Southern Denmark (SDU). 

The aim is to strengthen academia–industry–government collaboration and promote Indo-Danish research and innovation, the University said in a statement.

A key feature of the MoU is the establishment of a Center of Excellence for Indo-Danish innovation and translational research at IIT Guwahati. The collaboration also includes joint master’s and Ph.D. programs with co-supervision and mutual credit recognition, as well as faculty and student exchange initiatives to foster academic mobility and cultural integration.

"This collaboration reinforces our vision to position IIT Guwahati as a global hub for technology, research, and academic excellence. Together with SDU and through industry engagement, we aim to develop sustainable solutions addressing pressing global challenges,” Devendra Jalihal, director, IIT Guwahati said.

Research efforts under the partnership will focus on sustainable technologies, energy efficiency, climate solutions, and other shared areas of interest. A Joint steering committee comprising academic and industry representatives will oversee the programs, which will actively seek industry participation and financial backing.

The agreement was formalized by Jalihal, and Henrik Bindslev, dean of the Faculty of Engineering at SDU. The ceremony was held in the presence of Jørgen Mads Clausen, Honorary Consul for the Kingdom of Denmark in the UAE
