The Houston Tamil Studies Chair (HTSC) at the University of Houston honoured Dr. T. Vijayalakshmi, Thiruvalluvar Chair of Tamil Studies and Visiting Professor (Aug 2023–Aug 2025), for her service in teaching Tamil language and culture.

The recognition ceremony took place at Indian Summer in Sugar Land, Texas on Aug.21, organizers of the event said on Aug.26.
