The US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit on Aug.29 affirmed a lower court ruling that struck down five executive orders by President Donald J. Trump imposing sweeping tariffs on imports from Canada, Mexico, China, and dozens of other US trading partners.
In a 7–4 en banc decision, the court held that the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) does not authorise the President to impose tariffs of “unlimited duration on nearly all goods from nearly every country in the world”.
