अमेरिका की डोनाल्ड ट्रम्प सरकार अवैध प्रवासियों पर सख्त कदम उठा चुकी है। अब तक अवैध भारतीय प्रवासियों का तीसरा दल भारत जा चुका है। जिसमें कैदियों को हाथ में हथकड़ियां और पैरों में बेड़ियां बांधकर लाया गया था। भविष्य में अमेरिका से अवैध रूप से गए भारतीय नागरिकों को प्रत्यर्पित किए जाने की प्रक्रिया में कोस्टा रिका का अस्थायी प्रवासी केंद्र CATEM एक महत्त्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाने जा रहा है। अमेरिका की नई नीति के तहत, अब कोस्टा रिका एक ट्रांजिट हब के रूप में काम करेगा, जहां से प्रत्यर्पित नागरिकों को भारत भेजने की प्रक्रिया पूरी की जाएगी।
