Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed in London on July 24. The tightly packed two-day trip involved numerous socio-cultural exchanges and meetings.

After a formal diplomatic welcome on the tarmac after ascending from the India 1 flight, the official carrier of the country's Prime Minister, Modi received an overwhelming welcome from the Indian community in UK.

Modi greeted the wave of supporters, pausing to shake hands and greet the gathered diaspora.

Expressing his gratitude, Modi said on X, "Touched by the warm welcome from the Indian community in the UK. Their affection and passion towards India’s progress is truly heartening."

The primary objective of Modi's visit was his meeting with the UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and the signing of 'Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), a trade deal with the United Kingdom.

Modi described the deal as a "pivotal step" in strengthening the economic partnership between the nations.

After the agreement was successfully signed, Modi met numerous Indian-origin business leaders to discuss CETA's impact and to boost trade collaboration with the two countries.

Talking about the meeting, Modi said, "Interacted with business leaders at Chequers. The signing of the India-UK CETA has opened up new avenues for trade and investment."

Modi delved into the socio-cultural exchange leg of his visit by celebrating the two countries' longest running shared passion for chai with a 'Chai Pe Charcha' with Starmer.

Modi, on his X post, captioned the event as "brewing stronger India-UK ties!"

PM Modi's visit runs parallel to the Indian Men's cricket team's tour of Britain. Currently playing the fourth Test match in a five-match, the Indian team is trailing in the series tally.

Cricket being a key soft-power junction for the two countries, PM Modi's visit also included an interaction with players from Buckinghamshire Street Cricket Hubs.

Highlighting the love for the game shared between the two countries, Modi said, "India and the UK are connected by a shared passion for cricket.

He added, "At Chequers, PM Keir Starmer and I interacted with players from Buckinghamshire Street Cricket Hubs. Great to see sport fostering people-to-people ties between our nations."

Modi also gifted a bat signed by India's men's T-20 World Cup winning squad to the players.

Another significant point of mutual love rests in India's love for football, especially UK based clubs. Celebrating this, Modi and UK PM Starmer posed with the English Premier League trophy.

Modi said, "Football is widely admired among India's youth and several football clubs based in the UK are very popular in India."

During the last leg of his visit, Modi visited British Monarch, King Charles III. In honor of his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, Charles participated in Modi's ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative, a green campaign that encourages individuals to plant a tree as a tribute to their mothers.

Talking about it, PM Modi said, "His Majesty King Charles III is very passionate about nature, environment and sustainable living. Thus, his joining the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ (a tree for Mother) movement is very noteworthy and will inspire people around the world."

Modi will reach Maldives on July 25 to take part in the nation's 60th Independence Day celebrations.
