Rep. Pramila Jayapal along with Rep. Jamie Raskin are demanding an investigation into President Donald Trump’s reported acceptance of a $400 million private jet from the State of Qatar without Congressional approval, raising serious constitutional concerns and potential violations of the Foreign Emoluments Clause.
In a letter sent on May 15 to the U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi and White House Counsel David Warrington, Jayapal and Raskin, ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee, called for immediate disclosure of legal memos that reportedly authorized the acceptance of the luxury aircraft. Lawmakers argue that the transaction bypasses constitutional checks and may intend to be a bribe.
