Nearly half of AAPI adults in California experienced hate in 2024: Report

The findings, based on a representative survey of 515 California AAPI adults conducted in January 2025, shows that 48 percent of respondents experienced hate in 2024.

A staggering 48 percent of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) adults reported experiencing hate in 2024, a report released by Stop AAPI Hate on July 17 revealed. The findings are similar to the ones in 2023, when about 49 percent reported experiencing hate in the same region.

The state, home to the largest Asian American and Pacific Islander population in the U.S., remains the national epicenter of anti-AAPI hate.
