Agricultural engineering luminary Manjit K. Misra was awarded the Excellence in Global Engagement award during the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) International Meeting held last week in Toronto.
The award recognizes Misra’s “outstanding contributions towards global advancement, recognition of the profession of agricultural and biological engineering and excellence in global engagement, international education, outreach or research," the citation states.

Misra’s career spans leading roles in U.S. agricultural research and education. Most recently, he served as the director of the National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) until March 2025, spearheading national initiatives in agricultural innovation and research.
Prior to that, he was director of the Seed Science Center at Iowa State University, contributing significantly to seed biology and crop technology research. He now holds the title of professor emeritus at Iowa State University, where he continues to influence international collaborations and mentor emerging scholars.
He holds a Ph.D. and a M.S. degree from the University of Missouri, Columbia, and a B.S. degree from Orissa University of Agricultural Technology, India.
