Indian-American podiatrist and sports medicine specialist Amol Saxena has joined BASS Medical Group, bringing extensive experience in foot and ankle surgery.

Saxena is known for his contributions to surgical technique, including the development of the endoscopic Gastrocnemius recession and various procedures addressing Achilles tendon disorders. He has also been involved in the design of surgical instruments and classification systems now in clinical use.

In addition to his medical career, Saxena has participated in several Boston Marathons and Duathlon World Championships, offering him a distinct perspective on the demands of athletic performance and injury recovery.

He holds a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) and a Master of Public Health (MPH), the latter of which he earned from the Geisel School of Medicine, where he recently addressed graduates as an alumni speaker.

Speaking to the graduates, Saxena encouraged them to embrace lifelong connections, reminding them, “your connections to Dartmouth are more important than AI,” while cleverly invoking former Dartmouth football coach Buddy Teevens’ interpretation of AI: “adapt and improvise”.
