Ashvir Singh Johal, an Indian-origin coach, has been appointed first-team manager of Morecambe FC, making him the first Sikh to lead a professional football club in England. His appointment was announced on Aug.20, shortly after the club’s takeover by investment group Panjab Warriors.
Johal, 30, also becomes the youngest manager in the top five tiers of English football. He completed his UEFA Pro Licence in June, graduating alongside former England midfielder Jack Wilshere.
