The Women’s Council of the American Punjabi Society (APS) is proud to organize a blood donation camp on August 10, 2025, from 11:30 AM to 4:00 PM (local time) at the Asa Mai Hindu Temple, Hicksville, New York.

This meaningful initiative, chaired by Navneet K. Sondhi, is part of APS’s ongoing commitment to community service and public health awareness. The camp is being held in collaboration with four esteemed organizations- AAPI-QLI (American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin – Queens Long Island), AsaMai Temple of Hicksville, New York Cancer and Blood Specialists and New York Blood Center.

The campaign is being led by APS global president Gary Sikka, alongside the APS executive team: senior vice president Mohinder S. Taneja, general secretary Virender PS Sikka, and vice presidents Paul S. Bindra, Ajayvir S. Sondhi, Ravinder PS Narang, and Jaspal S. Arora. Medical oversight will be provided by Tarun Wasil, representing the APS medical advisory council. Pradeep Tandon, director of media and public relations, is coordinating communication and outreach for the event.

Last year’s blood donation camp was a tremendous success. Initially anticipating 25 donations, the event saw an enthusiastic community response with 47 successful donations. Although the original schedule was from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM (local time) and later it was extended to accommodate the turnout. Even then, some donors had to be turned away due to time constraints.

“This blood donation camp is a small yet impactful way to give back to our community and help save lives,” said Gary Sikka. “We encourage everyone who is eligible to come forward and donate.”

The event is open to all and aims to raise awareness about the life-saving importance of blood donation while strengthening community bonds, compassion, and cultural unity.
