Canadian Ice Hockey team Winnipeg Jets will celebrate its first South Asian Heritage Night presented by Canada Life on Feb. 11, 2023, before their match against the Chicago Blackhawks.
Celebrations will begin before the game at the Canada Life Centre. The Winnipeg Punjabi Arts Academy will perform traditional Bhangra dance and drumming before the game, South Asian DJs' will entertain the audience during intermission and various kiosks will offer South Asian delicacies ranging from samosas, butter chicken to tandoori chicken pizzas.
A special logo was created for the night in collaboration with local Winnipeg graphic designer Charmi Sheth, along with guidance from Waseem Shaikh, creative director at Ethnicity Matters, an agency specializing in leading engagement with cultural communities, a news release said.
