Canadian soccer club, Vancouver Whitecaps FC (soccer team) will host Vaisakhi celebrations on April 8, 2023 when they take on Cascadia Cup foe Portland Timbers, in an attempt to continue their four-match Major League Soccer (MLS) winning streak.
The festivities will include a match to the venue organized by the Sikh Motorcycle Club accompanied by Dhol drummers from the Shan-E-Punjab Arts Club. DJ Heer and Henna will perform for the crowd at the venue.

Limited edition Vaisakhi scarves and shirts will be available for sale. Acclaimed and award-winning Bollywood singer and performer Jugpreet Bajwa will sing the national anthems for a second straight season.With over 350,000 attendees each year, the Vaisakhi parades in Vancouver and Surrey are consistently among the largest outside of India.
Speaking of the importance of the festival in Canada, DJ Heer said, "It's a very big thing. We hold nagar kirtan, which is like a parade that we do every year with hundreds of thousands of people, walking from temple to temple. We love how the culture is now growing, and how we can invest it in sports. We're integrating sports with culture."
According to a news release, The BC Place will donate $1 from every sale at Bombay Kitchen to Guru Nanak's free kitchen. The players of Whitecaps FC will wear jerseys with the Vaisakhi logo designed by local artist Sandeep Johal.
