US missions in India step up efforts to speed up visa processing

‌‌According to the report, candidates with prior US visas can now waive interviews by using remote processing.

With an aim to improve visa processing speeds in India, the United States has launched new initiatives including setting up special interviews for first-time applicants and increasing the number of consular staff members in its missions in the country.

‌‌The US embassy in Delhi and the consulates in Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, and Hyderabad held "special Saturday interview days" on January 21 as part of a larger effort to reduce the visa backlog.
