US, India Defence relationship "very important" says Pentagon

The United States in 2016 designated India as a Major Defense Partner and in 2018 elevated the country to Strategic Trade Authorization tier 1 status, to strengthen defense trade

The United States and India have a very significant connection, according to a Pentagon official, who noted that security and defence are the two areas where cooperation between the two nations matters most.

“It is a very important relationship between the United States and India when it comes to security cooperation and defense cooperation. So, we look forward to continuing to engage with the Indian leadership," Pentagon Press Secretary Gen Pat Ryder told reporters at a news conference on Jan.10.
