New York-based Sikh Coalition in association with the American Civil Liberties Union of Arizona (ACLU-AZ), the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and 162 other non-profit organizations wrote to the Department of Homeland Security  (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, calling for the end of mistreatment of Sikh and other religious migrants at the U.S. border.

This comes after the ACLU received reports in June and July that U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents in Arizona’s Yuma Sector have been confiscating Sikh migrants’ turbans and other possessions and throwing them in the trash.
