British Sikh Harpreet Chandi first female to undertake solo South Pole trek

The Army officer, who is also an endurance athlete believes in pushing her body to the limits and making her expeditions a part of her ideology

British Indian Sikh Army officer and physiotherapist Captain Harpreet Kaur Chandi, also known as Polar Preet, has become the first female to undertake the longest solo expedition to the South Pole.

In freezing temperatures of minus 40 to 50 degrees celsius, Chandi ventured on a trek in November 2022 and completed the journey of 1,397 km without any assistance. The record of the longest solo and unsupported polar trek of 1,381 km was set by a German national, Anja Blacha in 2020.
