Diaspora key to India’s soft power diplomacy: MEA Official

MEA Secretary Dr. Ausaf Sayeed, lauded the diaspora for not only excelling in the country of their choice but also propelling growth in India.

Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) Secretary Dr Ausaf Sayeed hailed the Indian Diaspora as a dynamic and powerful entity, and an important part of India’s soft power diplomacy.

Speaking at Indian Council of World Affairs’ panel discussion on Pravasi Bharatiya Divas-2023, Sayeed said that the country has the largest and oldest diaspora in the world. However, their importance has only grown over time and currently they play a vital role in effective dissemination of India's culture, heritage and traditional Indian knowledge across the globe.
