Premier League gets first Sikh assistant referee

Gill is the son of Punjab-born former official, Jarnail Singh who is the first turbaned referee in English Football League history.

On January 4, 2023, Bhupinder Singh Gill made history as the first Punjabi-Sikh assistant referee at the Southampton VS Nottingham Forest Premier League match, the top level of men's English Football league system.

Gill is the son of Punjab-born, former official, Jarnail Singh, who became the first turbaned referee in English Football League history and officiated over 150 football matches during his career.
